Psycho-legal assessment or forensic psychology is a form of medico-legal assessment where psychological knowledge is applied within a legal context to answer specifically posed legal questions. The request fr such assessments is by an attorney or third-party as part of a legal process.

The questions posed will often relate to professional opinions on the impact physical injuries, comment on diagnoses, degree of impairment,  recommendations on treatment, prognosis, and need for additional assessments or inquiries. 

Assessments and reports are frequently included as expert evidence in a range of cases including:

Within the South African context forensic psychology, evaluations may only be conducted by psychologists registered with the HPCSA. In addition, the psychologist is required to have proven high levels of competence in the area under evaluation.

Terms

  • We work on an hourly rate of R1790 per hour. We quote on a case by case basis, as the level of complexity of each case differs greatly.
  • We request a 50% deposit to secure an appointment for a client and will deliver reports in pdf format on settlement of the invoice.
